IDPA Discipline
IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association)
IDPA is a tactical and dynamic shooting sport that models real-life defensive scenarios. It is based on fast, practical and safe shooting techniques against cardboard and metal targets with pistols and short-barreled restricted rifles (PCC). This discipline offers a system that tests and develops the shooter's individual abilities, while always keeping safety at the highest level.
IDPA's Basic Structure and Security Priority
- Scenario-Based Courses IDPA offers courses that include standard exercises requiring speed and practical marksmanship, as well as real-life scenarios based on self-defense.
- Not a Law Enforcement Simulation: IDPA does not simulate the job description of law enforcement officers. Instead, it aims to develop individual skills by modeling realistic situations based on personal defense.
- Referee Supervision and Safety: Before each IDPA match, the scenarios are meticulously reviewed by the referee panel. The scenarios are revised, tested and approved with pitcher safety as a basis.
- Safe Equipment Use: During competitions, the shooter's equipment is used in accordance with the rules under the supervision of the supervising referees. When the shot is completed, the equipment is safely placed in the holster. Shooters who act contrary to the rules may be disqualified.
IDPA's International Position and Development in Türkiye

In Türkiye, negotiations are ongoing with the Ministry of Sports and relevant institutions for IDPA to become a federation.

- Fair and Accessible Competition Environment: It offers a system where shooters of all levels can test their individual skills and training level rather than equipment.
- Skill-Based Classification: Provides equal competition conditions by dividing shooters into similar skill groups.
- Tactical and Dynamic Approach: Focuses on developing decision-making and effective shooting techniques under stress with different course scenarios.
- Stable Rules and Continuous Evolution: IDPA adopts equipment rules that do not change frequently in order to be a stable and sustainable discipline. In this way, it creates a long-term platform for both individual shooters and sponsors.
- Community and Sharing Culture: Creates a community that supports shooters' cooperation, sharing of experiences and mutual development.
